Ulverscroft, Leicestershire Case Study 16 of 19 - Previous - Next
Undertaking a project in a house built by Ernest Gimson is always going to demand the highest quality. Firstly we drew inspiration from the room itself; the rustic oak beams determined the choice of tops, while the slightly elaborate barley-twist pilasters and beading echoed the complexity of the visible structure.
There is no doubt that the room is quite beautiful, but the undulations and almost-diagonal levels of the 19th Century building created a big challenge to our team of fitters. Having completed numerous projects for the customers we knew of their very high standards, so once again our attention to detail and highly-skilled craftsmen carried out a faultless installation. Scribing by hand to the rise and fall of the floor and sloping eves, to such an extent that we were able to perfectly wrap the chest of drawers around the gnarled oak beam in the middle of a wall.
Almost a fairy tale bedroom…
